Carbon Finance Programs
BioLite is pleased to announce that we will be implementing two carbon finance programs, one in India and one in Uganda. These programs are aimed at supporting the dissemination of the BioLite HomeStove. The HomeStove is a woodstove that is 50% more fuel efficient than traditional woodstoves and that reduces smoke by 90%. It also converts heat to electricity so that people can charge a phone as they cook. BioLite began selling the HomeStove in Uganda with several partners at the end of 2013, with the aim of seeking carbon finance revenues, and is now preparing for the next phase of product dissemination.
BioLite is soliciting input from any interested stakeholders regarding project design. The Uganda project document, which will be the first of a series of projects in Uganda, can be downloaded here and the non-technical summary here. The India project, which we also anticipate to be the first in a series of projects, can be downloaded here and non-technical summary here. We will also be hosting in person stakeholder consultation events in both Uganda and India in the coming weeks. Should you wish to submit comments or questions, please send them to erik (at) bioliteenergy.com by May 28, 2015. Thank you for your interest in these programs.
